Hi! I'm Cara Michelle Smith—a comedy writer and journalist living in Brooklyn, New York.

I've written headlines for The Onion and regularly write humor for The New Yorker, McSweeney's Internet Tendency, The Rumpus, Reductress and more. I also do lots of stand-up and storytelling around New York, the latter of which I've done a handful of times with The Moth.

Right now, I'm a full-time reporter at NerdWallet, where my work has been syndicated in Yahoo! Finance, Marketwatch and NASDAQ.com, among other publications. Before joining NerdWallet, I spent eight years reporting on housing, real estate and economic development for several publications in Houston and Chicago.
